Good Afternoon Home Works! Parents. This is Principal Carla Hudson with your Friday Update.
We are at that point in the year when there are lots of activities taking place so I apologize in advance for a lengthy notice today.
TEACHER APPRECIATION
This coming week is teacher appreciation week. Please remind your child to say thank you to their teachers and maybe even make them a card. We have a bulletin board in the hallway where students and families can write a little message of thanks.. We truly have the best teachers in the district here at HW!
ANIMAL SHELTER
It’s Springtime and the local Animal Shelters could use some help. For the month of May, we will be collecting donations to help the shelters take care of our furry friends. If you would like to help out, there are two large baskets for donations under the sign in table. Please bring what you can to donate. Some requested items are: pet food, toys, blankets, dish soap, sponges, trash bags, paper towels, and gallon sized zip-lock bags. We will be collecting supplies until May 31st if you can help.
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION FAIR
Home Works, Three Springs and WIN have been invited to participate in the Alternative Education Fair. It will be held on Saturday, May 18 at the Women’s Building in Spokane from 10:00-3:00 p.m. Please come and see us, browse the stalls and see what else is happening with alternative education in our area.

REGISTRATION
We will get our list of fall classes to you by Friday, May 17. We have some exciting offerings and some new CBI’s joining us. Registration will not happen until June 11 and June 13, but we wanted to go ahead and let you see the schedule once it is ready. Our new students will be registering from hard copy since they are not in the system so if you hear that some people are registering differently, that is the reason. Existing families will have the opportunity to register online first.
IN-TAKE DAY
We will be hosting two In-Take Days for new families on Friday, May 31; and Wednesday, June 5. This will be an on-boarding meeting for families who are not currently familiar with our systems. I just wanted you to be aware, in case you hear anything about it. If you have a Kindergartener, or a sibling of an existing student, who is starting this year, we did not send a message to you since you are already in the system and know the routines. However, you are welcome to attend if you would like to.
MARKET NIGHT
Lastly, we will be having our end of the year Market Night on Wednesday, May 29. We will also have our Gallery of Learning, Spotlight and Talent Show on the same night. It will be a fun and festive event celebrating with our two sister schools, TSHS and WIN.
