Home Works! Parent-Partnership

Did you know?
  • Cheney Public Schools offers a parent-partnership to support families who choose home-based instruction for K-10th grade students.
  • Our goal is to provide blended aspects of home based learning experiences and public school.
  • Our teaching staff includes certificated teachers and community-based experts (CBEs) who have made a commitment to home school families.
  • Our role is to support and enrich the teaching, rather than replace it.

What do we provide?

We provide enrichment classes, consultation, and guidance with your student learning plan, instructional materials, and enrichment activities.
  • We operate under the authority of the State of Washington and the laws pursuant to an alternative learning experience (WAC 392-121-182). Students registered in Home Works! are considered enrolled students in the Cheney School District.

How does it work?
Home Works! recognizes parents as the primary teachers of their children and their authority in regards to the educational experience of their students.

Enrolled families meet with certificated educators to develop and monitor the Student Learning Plan (SLP).

Our program is designed to be a family experience while still satisfying the laws that govern us as a public school.
